What people are saying about us
"I have been going to Competitive Edge For 2 or 3 years and it has been a great experience for me. I remember long ago when Mr. Monroe said to me when I was a white belt "Just think with a little training and a lot of hope you can look back on this day when you are a blue belt." and just look at me now I am a blue belt! Competitive Edge is also a great place to build self confidence. I learned how to protect my self when a stranger approached me, By saying "Back Off!" and run away. Competitive edge is also the ultimate work out gym! You always get a work out while your in class, But a lot of people don't realize it because they're having so much fun and don't even realize that you're actually working out! Competitive Edge is the most Educational Martial Art Training Center in the world, Because it teaches you many things including: The Rules of Tae Kwon Do, How to Count in Korean, What Tae Kwon Do REALLY means, And the ways to Respect your Peers and your Tae Kwon Do Instructors. I hope to test for my Black belt by December this year It will be hard work but I know with the help of our wonderful Instructors Like Ms. Marie, Ms. Sharon, Mr. Monroe, Brandon and other instructors I know I will get my black belt! And one day when I am the highest rank of black belt I can be I know I will leave competitive Edge with a smile on my face! But my goal right now is Black Belt and Beyond!"

"My son joined the Tae Kwon Do program at Competitive Edge to get some exercise, have some fun and try something new. 15 months later, he still looks forward to the challenging classes as well as the encouragement he gets from the experienced, caring staff. To date he’s progressed five belts and gained confidence that is apparent in his school work and his interaction with his peers.

In and of itself, I’ve found that tae kwon do is a great kid’s activity because as the children progress, they see their hard work pay off in the form of advanced colored belts. Every time a child reaches a new level, staff and peers cheer their accomplishment – they can’t help but feel proud. In addition to the obvious physical rewards of the sport, they learn life skills like self defense that may help them manage a dangerous situation or deal with a bully. Respect for others, self control and perseverance are also encouraged.

As a parent, Competitive Edge makes it easy for me to fit Tae Kwon Do classes in around my son’s other activities. With classes available five days a week, it’s easy to create a routine that works for you. And, when my son has a special opportunity to do something else or just needs a rest, I can skip a class without being penalized financially. The reasonable monthly fee you pay allows you to attend unlimited classes on a schedule that fits your needs.

Their birthday packages are also affordable. My son’s 6th birthday party was a big hit with his classmates because it was so unique. The kids enjoyed learning some basic martial arts and playing lots of game. As a finale, they all got to break a board with their foot, a real highlight of the event.

Our experience has been so positive at Competitive Edge that I recently joined the adult Tae Kwon Do class. It’s providing me with a great work out, and a chance to spend time with some great people. Best of all, I now have something really great in common with my son. "

MY FAVORITE TEACHER
My favorite teacher is Ms Marie. She works at Competitive Edge. She helped me learn Tae Kwon Do. She is very patient when I first started counting in Korean.
Ms. Marie inspired me to come back every day. The way I see her teach makes me want to become a Tae Kwon Do teacher as part time job.
Another reason Ms. Marie is my favorite teacher is that she is very funny. She makes Tae Kwon Do fun. She also makes the best games.
That is why Ms. Marie is my current favorite teacher.

"At first I was a little hesitant as my 8 year old was coming from another school with his green belt. However, we both quickly loved the black belt instructor. My son also loves the small classes and personal attention. I love the easy to understand fee structure with no upfront fees or long term contracts. Terrific experience!"
R. Lemire, Fort Washington

The Taekwondo class is fulfilling my goals of stress relief and physical conditioning better than I ever imagined. After just a few classes, my physical and mental well-being were noticeably improved. I tried other forms of martial arts at other institutions but found the experiences frustrating because the form didn't suit my personality. During my initial contact with Competitive Edge, I was given invaluable help in selecting a form suitable for my personality and goals. I felt comfortable with the class from the first day and highly recommend my instructor for being professional, encouraging, fun, and understanding.

"My two sons had been taking karate at another local school, and I was not happy with the large class sizes, and the lack of individual attention my sons were receiving. I have since switched to Competitive Edge, and I could not be happier. The amount of attention they receive is phenomenal, and their forms and focus have improved tremendously. My boys love Ms. Marie, the instructor, because she makes the classes fun for them as well as teaching them the basics. They are more physically fit and healthy now as well because of the attention focused on warm-ups and being active in class. I have noticed a big improvement in both my sons. I could not be happier at Competitive Edge, and I urge you to come in and experience it for yourself!"
The Kline Family, Maple Glen

"Competitive Edge worked with my children when they had difficulties with some poomsaes. They pride themselves on acquiring a personal relationship with the families and the instructors take special interest in your children, as do the owners of Competitive Edge. They incorporate Taekwondo instruction with a fun learning environment. Also, they are very accommodating and flexible when it comes to class schedules. My boys loved the fact that they could not only participate in Karate but they could also partake in the Jujitsu classes, all in one facility. It was like one stop shopping for me."
Margie LaSorsa, Ambler

"Our two daughters have been enrolled at Competitive Edge for over three months. They wake up every morning anxious to go to the next class. The Competitive Edge instructors distinguish themselves through their exemplary patience and compassion when dealing with the children. We look forward to many more months of our children's continuing development in body and mind through their martial arts training."
Sean and Gwynne Clark, Willow Grove

"My children were new students in school and were enduring bulling and teasing. I decided to enroll them in Karate, as a way of helping them to feel confident and defend themselves if necessary.

I did some research: visited local schools, talked with the trainers and made the best choice – Competitive Edge. The other schools had high pressure sales tactics and were more concerned about revenue, not in the children. They had large classes with one instructor and the children weren’t being taught properly. This was evident in the lack of ability and sharpness of the children. Even the belt holders were sloppy.

At Competitive Edge, my children are always receiving individual attention. Their progress has been incredible! Even when they were too sick to go to school, they ask to attend karate class! As a parent, I have noticed an increase in confidence, flexibility, and most importantly, the ability to handle bulling either diplomatically or defensively if necessary. Thank you, Competitive Edge!"
Bill Rutledge, Glenside

"The only reason I picked Competitive Edge over the other neighboring schools is because of Maria O'Donnell. From my brief encounter with Maria at the other school, she was the only instructor that was able to engage my son and get him out there to train and run with the other children. I was not able to find such instructor until I came across Maria. Thank you Maria."

Boxing
"As a physician, I know there are no short cuts to getting in shape. It's diet and exercise. Period. I managed to get the diet part down, but I've always had trouble with the exercise part. Unless someone is actively coaching me, I quickly give up. That's what's been great about Competitive Edge. Although they offer many different types of martial arts classes, I went the traditional route: boxing. The instructor, Ishmael (a.k.a. "Ish"), is a professionally trained boxer who stresses the fundamentals and really pushes his students to their limits. And the small class sizes ensure lots of personal attention. Thanks to Ish and Competitive Edge, I am in better shape now than I have been for the last 20 years."

"Boxing is the only way for me to stay in shape. So when I found it at Competitive Edge I was thrilled.
The instructors Jim & Stew are awesome. I learned more in one night than I did in my ten years of kickboxing."
Jennifer Garrison, Ambler

"I've been interested in boxing for a long time, but couldn't find a gym with quality trainers. I look forward to going to the boxing classes at Competitive Edge because they have a quality professional trainer who is knowledgeable, and has personal experience. Whether your looking to learn boxing, martial arts, or you want to get into shape, Competitive Edge has the instructors who will get you to where you want to be."
